“Now, the Science national project sets requirements not only for inclusion of journals into Scopus and Web of Science databases. Journals should also have a high quartile, which is characteristic of their relevance and quality. Thus, the fact that Chernye Metally is included into the first quartile of the Scopus international database shows its credibility in the world of science. This means that now scientists from all over the world will read about our studies, we can receive requests for sharing experience, promotion and implementation of our technologies and projects in the market. Thanks to this platform we may promote results of our research activities all over the world”, commented Professor Oxana S. Logunova, Head of the Technology Transfer Department, the Strategic Planning Office of NMSTU.

CIS Iron and Steel Review, an English-language journal of Ore and Metals publishing house, held its rank in the first quartile too. One of its founders is Nosov Magnitogorsk State Technical University. Within a year, its impact factor SJR increased from 0.960 to 2.351.

Thus, Chernye Metally and CIS Iron and Steel Review are currently the only Russian journals on ferrous metallurgy included in Q1 of the Scopus global citation index among specialized journals of Russia, the states of the CIS and Eastern Europe. This is applicable not only to the Metals and alloys subject, but also in general to the Materials science section. Moreover, they take two first places in this list containing 37 journals.
