29th World Winter Student Games 2019

For 11 days – from 2nd through 12th March 2019, Krasnoyarsk will become the capital of world winter student games. This will be the first sports event of such scale that will take place in Siberia. For the city of Krasnoyarsk, the student games are a great honour and responsibility and a unique chance to show the true Siberian spirit and hospitality to the world.

The student games are held every two years. Undergraduate students in the age box of 17 to 25, as well as graduates who were awarded an academic degree or a diploma in the year preceding the games, are entitled for participation. The games include basic and optional sports. The list of basic sports is approved by the International University Sports Federation (or, FISU) before the bid campaign, whereas the optional sports are defined by the host party, provided they meet all the FISU requirements.

Over 3,050 delegates representing more than 50 countries are to take part in the 29th World Winter Student Games in Krasnoyarsk. 76 medals are to be awarded in 11 sports. More than 110,000 people will witness the games. More than 15,000 people are expected to serve as volunteers during the games. The viewing public will include 1.5 billion people around the world. 665 people will bear torches during the relay race. Over 1,000 reporters will be covering the student games in Krasnoyarsk.
